Dartford Warbler 2018

Dartford WarblerHampshire is one of the most important counties for Dartford Warbler with potentially the largest breeding population in country.

The last national surveys were undertaken in 2006 and 1994 with an additional survey in the New Forest in 2014.

Dartford Warbler are susceptible to cold winters. After a decline through the harsh winters of 2009-2011, current data indicates that Dartford Warbler numbers are stable and possibly increasing Hampshire.

The 2018 survey will involve 4 visits to every 1-km square where Dartford Warblers have been recorded in recent years. The survey should be carried out early morning in calm/fine weather between April and June.
