Winter River Birds – possible for 2005/06

The Wetland Bird Survey (WeBS) effectively monitors waterbirds on estuaries and large inland waterbodies, but rivers are poorly covered by comparison. This has great significance for waterbird monitoring since linear waterways are known to be important habitats for species such as Mallard, Goosander, Little Grebe and Goldeneye. A national Winter River Bird Survey is therefore being planned by the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT).

There is not yet any firm date for this survey, but if you’d like to participate in Hampshire, then please register your interest…
