In 2019 HOS surveyors completed survey visits to each of the 1km squares that had the potential habitat to support Woodlarks. Surveys were undertaken twice in February/March and April/May in reasonable weather conditions. All sightings were plotted for each survey visit and these were then analysed to determine the probable number of territories. The breeding population of Woodlark recorded from the New Forest National Park was 169 territories/pairs derived from 214 separate registrations of Woodlark.
